We are looking forward to creating our Community garden. We are in the process of applying for funding so that we can increase the biodiversity of the triangular area of grass beside the hall. We are looking for suggestions, ideas and advice from the local community and are interested in how you would like our garden area to look. By planting wild flower beds, making bird boxes and bee hotels, we hope to encourage local wildlife to thrive and grow, as well as having an area where people can sit and relax. We would like to share our Community Garden design by our very talented and local volunteer architect Lauren Izzet we hope you are as excited as we are to see this come to life in our park. If you would like to get involved please send us a message on our contact us link “please add a copy of our community garden plan attached: Mount Vernon Community Hall_garden_draft 1

We very much welcome your input.

Many thanks,

MVCH Volunteers.

Project Woodland area

We the Mount Vernon Community Hall (MVCH) volunteers plan to create a nature trail within an existing woodland area behind the Community Hall. The area was once part of a railway line and is owned by Railway Paths LTD. The MVCH volunteers along with the local community would like to create a nature trail which will link up with existing paths within the Park create a natural loop and flow through our community garden growing space. We also plan to incorporate an addition of an outdoor gym area within the loop. We will sow wildflower meadows plant native trees and shrubs creating wildlife habitats. Tidying the woodland area will allow this area to be used and enjoyed by the local community, like children who attend the playgroup in our hall. Our volunteers hope to create a better place for the community to explore and enjoy as well as Improve the community’s health and wellbeing by getting people more physically active outdoors and in contact with nature. If you would like to get involved please send us a message on our contact us link

Project Mount Vernon Station

Our local MVCH volunteers will be heading down to our Mount Vernon Train Station to brighten it up with some additional planters and flowers thanks to Scotrail’s adopt a station funding.
